The DUTCH Plus (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones) was developed to improve on the available hormone testing options. DUTCH offers the most extensive profile of sex & adrenal hormones along with their metabolites (A substance made or used when the body breaks down food, drugs or chemicals, or its own tissue). Additionally, the diurnal (daily) pattern of free cortisol is included along with melatonin. The DUTCH Plus adds the Cortisol Awakening Response (the change in cortisol concentration that occurs in the first hour after waking from sleep) to bring another important piece of the HPA (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal) axis into focus.

IgG (immunoglobulin G) testing is a useful guide for structuring elimination diets in many chronic conditions. Individuals with neurological, gastrointestinal, & movement disorders often suffer from IgG food allergies. These people may continue to eat offending foods unaware of their potential effects. As immunological reactions, IgE food allergy causes the release of histamine, producing an immediate hypersensitivity reaction, in which symptoms appear within minutes or hours. In contrast, food sensitivity is a non-IgE allergy characterised by the measurement of IgG antibodies specific to antigenic food proteins. This IgG food allergy is a delayed hypersensitivity reaction in which symptoms appear anywhere from hours to days after eating the offending food.

This test has added Candida to the IgG Food Sensitivty Test. Candida problems are caused when the benign yeast form of Candida albicans mutates to its fungal form. Candida can take over sections of the intestinal wall causing numerous symptoms. As it grows out of balance it produces toxins that create holes in the intestinal lining, leading to leaky gut syndrome. After entering the blood, Candida albicans causes an inflammatory immune system response. A wide range of disorders have been linked to Candida including autism, multiple sclerosis, depression, & chronic fatigue. The Intestinal Permeability & Absorption (IPA) Analysis is a uniquely comprehensive test designed to determine the health & efficiency of multiple gastrointestinal functions. Of specific interest are increased intestinal permeability, intestinal damage, gut function, lactose intolerance, sucrose intolerance, & the health of intestinal villi.

The theory behind the IPA test has been comprehensively reviewed, & by evaluating the past 30 years scientific literature, it is now possible to obtain a more in-depth understanding about intestinal function. The IPA test differs from other intestinal permeability tests in that it analyses five types of sugar & their correlative enzymes as opposed to only two types. With two sugars you are getting perhaps just two-fifths of the clinical picture.

The IPA test provides an indication as to whether a patient suffers from one or more of the following clinical conditions: reduced absorption capacity; increased gastrointestinal permeability; inflammation; or lactose & sucrose intolerance – knowledge not previously obtainable from the two sugar tests. The test is carried out following the ingestion of a sugar solution containing the five different types of sugar: mannitol, sucrose, lactose, rafinose & cellobiose. The concentrations of the different sugars are identifiable in urine. The levels or their mutual ratios indicate whether the above clinical conditions are prevalent.

Increased intestinal permeability syndrome is a condition caused by damage to the mucosal lining of the intestines. The intestines are designed to absorb nutrients as small molecules. When the bowel lining is altered or damaged, larger, undigested molecules are absorbed into the bloodstream & cause further inflammation, consequently preventing the absorption of beneficial nutrients. Increased intestinal permeability is primarily caused by over-consumption of alcohol, carbonated drinks, pharmaceutical drugs, & diets consisting of low-fibre, high-fructose, preserved, & processed foods. The effects can be varied & severe, ranging from fatigue & bloating to heightened food allergies, protein damage, detoxification inhibition, & a weakened immune system. Unfortunately, many of these symptoms are unrecognised, & many cases of increased intestinal permeability are undiagnosed.

The Organic Acids Test (OAT) offers a comprehensive metabolic snapshot of a patient’s overall health with over 70 markers. It provides an accurate evaluation of intestinal yeast and bacteria. Abnormally high levels of these microorganisms can cause or worsen behavior disorders, hyperactivity, movement disorders, fatigue and immune function. Many people with chronic illnesses and neurological disorders often excrete several abnormal organic acids in their urine. The cause of these high levels could include oral antibiotic use, high sugar diets, immune deficiencies, acquired infections, as well as genetic factors.

Mycotoxins are some of the most prevalent toxins in the environment. Mycotoxins are metabolites produced by fungi like mould, which can infest buildings, vehicles, and foodstuffs. A majority of mycotoxin exposures are through food ingestion or airborne exposure. In the European Union, 20% of all grains harvested have been found to be contaminated with mycotoxins.
